UHero

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 26 October 2026

UHero analyses your badminton video on your iPhone. The original video and audio are not uploaded to UHero. You can choose whether to share usage and analysis data to help us improve the app.

You control feedback sharing

Feedback sharing is off until you allow it. The app asks for your choice once, when you first open it. You can change that choice in Settings at any time.

If you turn sharing off:

Turning sharing off does not delete information UHero has already received. To request deletion from our server, use Delete my data in Settings.

  • New uploads stop.
  • Pending uploads of usage events and feedback packages are cleared.
  • Individual analysis labels, such as tags or corrections, may stay on your iPhone if they were already waiting to be sent. They can be sent if you turn sharing on again.

What may be sent to UHero

When feedback sharing is on, UHero may receive the following information.

App use and technical details

Analysis results and corrections

Feedback packages and labels sent separately may include:

These are numbers and structured records, not the original video. Event and label times are also sent in UTC. Video dates, filenames, player names and match descriptions are not included in the feedback data.

A processed image of the court lines

A black-and-white image of the court lines may be included when available. It is created on your iPhone with people and text removed. The app uploads it only if it passes its privacy checks. If it fails a check, it is left out.

  • A randomly generated ID for this installation of the app.
  • Records of app use and when they occurred.
  • The app version and build, operating system and iPhone model.
  • The source used to install the app, also called the installation channel.
  • Random project IDs, processing times and the type of video export.
  • Whether a detected video segment is a rally, and any corrections to that decision.
  • Tags, changes to where clips start and end, selected clips, their order, and changes to the marked court corners.
  • Tags suggested by the app and the final tags, plus the start and end times of rallies and other video segments.
  • The positions and movement paths of tracked points on the body.
  • Numerical information used by the analysis model and the results it produces.
  • Information about the court, including corners, line segments and the mathematical mapping between the video image and the court, called a homography.

What is not uploaded or collected

UHero does not upload your original video, audio, photos from your photo library or frames from the original video.

The feedback fields do not ask for or collect GPS location, photo-library asset IDs, advertising IDs, filenames, player names, club or tournament names, or match details.

The optional in-app survey has an Other field. If you fill it in, up to 200 characters of your text may be sent. Please do not include names, contact details or match information.

How we use the data

We use usage records and feedback to improve UHero and check how well its features work. We also use them to develop, evaluate and train models that detect rallies and suggest highlights or tags.

We do not sell this feedback or use it for advertising.

QR codes and shared links

A UHero sharing link may contain a random identifier, called a token, and a channel label. Scanning the QR code or opening the link may create a record containing the event type, token, channel, time and a broad platform category, such as iOS, Android or desktop.

The feedback server stores a hash, a value calculated from the token, rather than the token itself.

Where data is processed

Feedback records and packages are stored on a Mac Studio server operated by UHero in Norway.

We use ngrok to route internet connections to this server. ngrok may process the connection data needed to provide this service.

Vercel hosts the UHero website, including the parts that handle QR-code links. It may process basic request information needed to deliver and protect the website. This privacy page does not use advertising cookies or behavioural analytics.

How long data is kept and how to delete it

Usage events, labels, feedback packages and QR scan records are kept in the feedback service for up to 18 months. They are then removed automatically according to the service’s retention schedule.

To delete the events, labels and packages linked to this installation of the app, choose Delete my data in Settings. If your iPhone is offline, the request waits and is retried when the app can connect.

Turning feedback sharing off by itself does not delete data already uploaded.

Your rights in the EU and EEA

Depending on your situation, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict its processing, or receive a portable copy. You can object to processing and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
